Clare Westbrook is a very junior attorney at the law firm headed by Harvey Kredd, and when Harvey is murdered, she must deal not only with a wealthy and impossible client, but with her old flame, Tony Sonterra, the cop on the case. Not to mention the fact that she's afraid of losing her niece Emma--whom she has raised since Emma's mother was murdered--now that Emma's father is out of jail.
