We recently launched our new site, I am calling it our new site and not a new site design because it is far more then just a new look.  We have implemented a lot of new features in addition to making the site more user friendly.  This is the most comprehensive update to our site since we launched back in 2000.  We are also working on a host of new features we’ll be implementing soon so please keep the feedback coming.

We just launched our new “A La Carte” section that allows anyone to rent paperback and audiobooks individually.  We understand not everyone is an avid reader.  If you are a casual reader, this section is for you.

There is no membership required, you can rent what you want, when you want, you can even queue up titles you want to read or listen to next.  Orders are triggered manually by you, not automatically like our unlimited rental plans. This gives you complete flexibility and control.

Whether you want a good book to read during some down time over the Holidays, or an audiobook for a long road trip, our “A La Carte” program offers savings, selection, and convenience to the casual reader or listener.

Earlier this week we launched our long awaited Combo Membership Plans. These new plans allow members to rent both paperback and audiobooks through the same account. The pricing of these plans are also discounted from the individual plans, providing members who enjoy both paperbacks and audiobooks even greater savings.

All the functionality and features of both the paperback and audiobooks sections have been incorporated into one user friendly site. With over 20 plans to choose from, there’s a Combo Membership Plan that’s right for you.

I’m excited to announce we delivered our one millionth paperback book last week. The book “The Road”, a recent Oprah’s Book Club pick, arrived at the home of a subscriber in McMillan, Michigan on June 7th. President and CEO Doug Ross commented about the milestone saying, “We view the one millionth delivery as a symbol of the company’s steady growth and high level of customer satisfaction.”

The book industry is converting its primary product identifier, the ISBN, from a 10-digit number to a 13-digit number.  Everything on the backend of our web site and warehouse management system is tied to this unique identifier.  So you can imagine we were not exited to hear the news that this change was coming.

Last Friday we converted our entire system over to the new 13-digit number.  I am happy to report the conversion process went well, with only a few minor glitches.  From our members perspective nothing has changed.  They can ever continue to search using the 10-digit ISBN number if they wish.
