Queue Integration with BooksfreeSwap

June 29th, 2010

We recently integrated member’s queues with our new book swap site BooksfreeSwap.com. You can now tell which books in your queue are available at BooksfreeSwap and you can trigger a swap right from your Booksfree queue.

Members will now notice a swap icon in their queue for titles that are available at BooksfreeSwap. To trigger a swap for an available title, simply click on the icon. You only pay a minimal shipping and handling fee to have a BooksfreeSwap member ship you the book. If you are currently not a member of BooksfreeSwap, you can activate your membership for free in your account. Booksfree members get a discount on the shipping and handling.

If you are a BooksfreeSwap member, completed swaps for titles that are in your Booksfree queue will be automatically removed. Conversely, any title we ship you from your Booksfree queue will automatically be removed from your BooksfreeSwap wish list.

Read Across America Day 2010

March 2nd, 2010

It’s Read Across America Day today, in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.  Read Across America Day is the annual reading motivation and awareness program sponsored by the National Education Association.  So pick up a book and read today, and every day!

Paperbacks and Children’s Books

February 2nd, 2010

Back in September of last year we launched our Children’s Books rental service. We gave regular paperback memberships access to these children’s books by simply allowing them to access and add titles from the Children’s Books section. Now we have also integrated children’s books into the paperback books section. So now when you search the paperback section, the results will also contain children’s books. The children’s books are clearly labeled and have a light blue “Add” button instead of the normal red “Add” button. We hope this makes it easier for paperback members to find and add children’s books if they wish to.

Customizable Homepage

December 23rd, 2009

You will now notice a Customize Your Homepage section of the member homepage. Simply select any genre from the drop-down menu at any time to display recommendations from that genre. It will remember which genre you chose so the next time you come to your homepage it will display titles from that genre. You can always leave it on the default or change it to whatever you want at any time.

Not Interested

December 3rd, 2009

Members will now notice a “Not Interested” button below the add button on their homepage, recommendations, search results, and search details pages. When you click on the button you will have the option to remove the title or author from the results. So basically you can customize the results of the page.

On your personalized recommendations page, you also now have the option to “Hide Genre” so you can customize the page. For genres you’ve read some books in but really are not that interested.

Video Tutorials

November 16th, 2009

We just added video tutorials to our Help section.  These video tutorials will assist you in learning to use our site.  Tutorials cover the member homepage, adding titles to your queue, managing our queue, orders, account, recommendations, and favorite authors.  Members can also access these tutorials from their Resources page.

Whether you’re new to Booksfree or a long time member.  These tutorials will help you learn and understand all that Booksfree has to offer.

Booksfree Mobile

October 6th, 2009

We just launched our Booksfree Mobile site. Members can simply go to www.booksfree.com on their mobile device and it will automatically redirect them to the mobile section. The mobile site allows you to do basic things like search, add books to your queue, delete or move titles in your queue, check the status of an order, and report a shipping problem.

Email Preferences

September 14th, 2009

We added Email Preferences so members can opt-out of emails we send out, like when your queue is low on titles. Just go to your “Account” for a full list of preferences.

New Children’s Books Rental Service

September 8th, 2009

We just launched a new  Children’s Books Rental Service designed specifically for children.  The service boasts over 28,000 children’s books for ages 0-12 in paperback and hardcover.

Existing members of Booksfree’s paperback and combo plans will automatically have access to the Children’s Books section.  This gives existing Booksfree members access to an additional 28,000 titles at no extra cost.  The Children’s Books service also has its own membership plans for those who only want children’s books.  Plans start at just $13.99 a month for unlimited rentals.  Gift memberships are also available in monthly increments.
