Kelly's Inferno relates the experiences of John Kelly, a prosperous family man, who is killed in an automobile accident while driving to a motel with a prostitute, Cathy, whom he has just met. The novel's action is concerned with the souls of John and Cathy as they, unseen to the living world, but quite alive to themselves and each other, adjust to death and life beyond the grace. The story is grim but humorous, a modern Divine Comedy.
