What does a man do when he receives a letter from his first love suggesting they get back together when both are now single and in their 60s? Jack Dougherty, a successful, retired widower is just beginning to think about starting life again, 15 months after his wife's death. Unexpectedly, he receives a letter from his high school sweetheart, Angela Apicella, herself recently widowed. Now independently wealthy, Angela has decided to live her remaining years to the fullest. Her plan includes a desire to see if Jack might be interested in renewing their relationship. While genuinely intrigued by Angela's proposal, Jack's interest is tempered by his daughter Kelly's attitude. Seemingly not yet accepting her mother's death, her overbearing ways are poisoning all around her. Unbeknownst to Jack, however, Kelly is actually haunted by a foolish act from years before. Now Jack must do all he can to avoid having Kelly destroy his opportunity for a new life with Angela.
