by Arthur Thomas Quiller-Couch
Arthur Thomas Quiller-Couch was known for his very excellent verse and in this vein was given the task of completing one of Robert Louis Stevenson's unfinished novels, St. Ives. He was also responsible for several classical books, including The Book of English Verse which his fictional character Horace Rumpole would often quote. He also wrote in many fictional genres. For example, 'The Haunted Yacht' is a ghost story, 'The Burglary Club' is a mystery story, and 'The Capture of the 'Burgomeister Van der Werf'' is a swashbuckling adventure story. Also included in this volume are 'The Miracle of the 'White Wolf,'' 'Sindbad on Burrator,' 'Victor,' 'King o' Prussia,' 'The Man Who Could Have Told,' 'The Cellars of Rueda,' 'Parson Jack's Fortune,' 'Concerning St. John of Jerusalem,' 'Cox versus Pretyman,' 'The Bridals of Ysselmonde,' 'England!,' 'John and the Ghosts,' 'Three Photographs,' 'The Talking Ships,' 'The Keepers of the Lamp,' 'Two Boys,' 'The Senior Fellow,' and 'Ballast.
