After graduating from West Cary High School, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Education from Saint Augustine's College, Raleigh, North Carolina. She began her professional career with North Carolina State University as a Stenographer IV. From several jobs in between, she became an administrator at IBM, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Pastor Mayo is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Joy and Deliverance Christian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. She has served since June 1995. Pastor Mayo is blessed to have her husband, Clarence Mayo, Jr., their children and grandchildren working in the ministry.
