This novel marks the debut of an author and a series: The sleuthing pair consists of Clayton Reed, a wealthy Beacon Hill art collector, and his factotum, Fred Taylor, a Vietnam Vet who takes various shady jobs to make ends meet. Their first case concerns a porno photographer who sold Reed a painting that just may be the work of a 19th-century master. Unfortunately, the pornographer expired before he could deliver the work. Now it's up to Taylor and Reed to find it without succumbing to the same forces that murdered the salesman.
