Anna Simon and her husband Ian take their son Max to a camp designed especially for children afflicted with Xeroderma Pigmentosum, which is an extreme sensitivity to ulraviolet light. There she finds herself attracted to Hal, the man who runs the camp--and who has some parallels with a man she fell in love with when, in her younger days, she spent a year teaching art in France. Anna's feeling for Hal puts her marriage in jeopardy--but Max thrives.
