In the spring of 2001, thirty-three-year-old Lauren Millin is living a charmed life. She is married to her college sweetheart and has a wonderful son named Joshua. But after an abnormally painful pregnancy with her second child that ends with an emergency C-section, she is diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer that has metastasized to her ovaries, bladder, and colon-and her prognosis is bleak.
