Started out good
by Kimberly on September 25, 2007
Beginning was great, an interesting peek at life in a harem. However, I got progressively more bored toward the end - it seemed as if the story turned into less of a biography and more a historical account of events in Iran.

Excellent

This was a really excellent book if one wants to understand some of the sweeping historical movements of Iran while following the story of one extraordinary woman. The end is particularly poignant as she describes the effect of the Islamic revolution on her family and her life's work.
