A young Australian man named Billy has been hospitalized and labeled insane after he assaults a tourist. However, his nurse believes that Aboriginal spirits are behind his seemingly irrational behavior. Meanwhile, Billy is reliving his strange and isolated childhood, and remembering the Aboriginal girl named Maisie who defined his world. The question now, however, is whether or not Billy is sane enough to stand trial for assault.
