P.I. Fremont Jones accompanies her friend Frances McFadden to a seance, more out of curiosity than faith in telepathy. But Frances runs into serious trouble when her husband finds out, and two of the mediums are murdered. As Frances delves deeper into danger by starting a secret affair, she drags Jones along with her on a precarious ride, and has to count on own penchant for telepathy to ensure their survival.
