The Story of Jewel

by Jewel Cordes

This book covers the history of time from 1920-2007. The contents are of a young girl's life from poverty to success. She shares with her readers how she met and dealt with many common problems we all face. Her eager determination helped her to reach and maintain many goals in life. You will find her full of fun, determined and inspirational as this story unfolds. It is admirable how she succeeded in obtaining her education. You will be inspired by her life, and will find new faith in yourself and God. Many friends and relatives encouraged her to share her life's story. She has done this in a very transparent and interesting way. You will not want to put this book down as the author creates an atmosphere of exciting expectancy in every written word. The author of THE STORY OF JEWEL is presently living in Pensacola, Fl. She was born in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Her parents moved to Springdale, Arkansas, when she was eighteen months old. She lived in Springdale until she moved to Pensacola in 2003. Her first memories were of the Great Depression era. This limited her ability to receive the education she so eagerly desired. This book tells how she eventually overcame this obstacle and gained a college education. After receiving her degree, she taught school for twenty years. With a strong belief that no one should let their age or circumstances hinder them from their dreams and goals, she took nursing classes at age seventy and became Mr. Sam Walton's day nurse the last five weeks of his life. She lived a very happy, active life and puts great humor in her book. Hopefully this book will be an inspiration to all who read it.
