Verdie a naive sixteen-year-old girl meets Bill a man seven years older than her. They fall in love and in six months they marry. Little did she know that seventeen years later she would be the mother of ten children. Their story is about hardships, sickness and poverty. This is a true story about a family with little education but was granted a degree in common sense and the knowledge to survive the depression and other life's problems. A story of a mother who worked hard and had the responsibility of caring for the children with only the bare necessities. A father who had to spend much of his time at work in the coal mines. The children had to learn early to work and do their share.
